Seems like most individuals are often talking about pre-flop method, so I would like to speak a bit about how I bet on following the flop. Maybe I can help others, or maybe they have advice to enhance my play.
I believe that 2 of the most critical plays after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive bet. That’s because these are the plays you generate once you havent hit a hand except you have a great drawing hand. Its easy to play a hand once you flop a monster. But I feel that these 2 are the ideal techniques to bet on a drawing. Each one is bet depending on you challenger(s) and your postion. So here’s how I play it, so tell me what you think.
Early Location – Tight Competitors:
A semi-bluff works fairly effectively in this position. Arrive out betting and if a tight player didn’t hit a hand he will most likely lay down, and if he’s unsure you might receive a call. But watch out, if that tight gambler comes back more than the best it may well be time to obtain away.
Early Location – Loose Opponents
This is were I like to perform a defensive bet. Make a decision how several chips you’re willing to chance on your draw and bet. It is usually a much lower bet than normal. It has been my encounter that the loose player will usually just call a bet rather than re-raise. Even so, should you check to them, theyre far more likely to throw in far more chips than your willing to pay.
Late Position – Tight Competitors
This is the finest time to do a semi-bluff, specially if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you’ll probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler before has wager, you have to decide if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he’ll probably go away since he was trying to steal the pot. In case you consider he does, nicely then it is time to calculate your odds, and choose if the pot odds are worth the call.
Late Place – Loose Opponents
This one is often a bit challenging, because it is harder to put a loose player on a hand. And if your in late placement against loose gambler, odds are they have already bet. This can be had been I usually decide to take a chance and appear back more than the top of them and hope they do not call, and if they do, properly then its time to gamble. Chances are although even a loose player will go away when you come back strong enough.
Remember although that these are moves I only make after the flop comes and I have a respectable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Perhaps 4 to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
