Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
